What were your expectations of college life before UC Merced?
I wasn’t sure what college life would really be like.
How did your experience here correspond to that expectation?
Fortunately, UC Merced was the right fit for me. I can honestly say that I used the resources UC Merced has to offer.
What are your plans for after graduation?
I have applied to various graduate schools. If I am not accepted into any of the programs, I will enroll in a certification program and work full-time before I can apply for graduate schools again next year.
How did your experience at UC Merced prepare you for your future endeavors?
Networking, networking, networking. Your future relies not only on what you can do but who you’ve already done it for and who wants you to do it for them now.
What is your best UC Merced memory?
There have been so many: Working for Enrique Guzman and programming through the Office of Student Life; fund-raising for UWMN; performing undergraduate research and being UC Merced’s first McNair Scholar on our campus. Putting together the past three Cesar Chavez celebrations hit the top of my list.
What is the one thing you think all freshmen should know to make the most of their academic career here?
Don’t forget why you’re here and remember to keep professional. This isn’t high school; do things right and great things will come. No pajamas in class, no sleeping and do your readings. Philanthropy: Learn it, do it, love it, live it and you’ll go far!
