Virtual Commencement

Open to all Eligible Graduates

Our virtual ceremony will be inclusive of all students eligible to graduate, not just those who have registered to participate in Commencement. This list of eligible graduates includes those who already have, or are anticipated to complete graduation requirements in the following terms:

  • Fall 2020
  • Summer 2020 (if graduate registered after May 2020)

Share Commencement with your Family and Friends

Virtual Commencement allows family and friends to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2020 from the comfort of their home. The livestream will be available to view from the Commencement webpage, YouTube, and on social media.

Closed captioning will be available.

Student Speaker and National Anthem Singer

Though our ceremony will be virtual, there will still be opportunities for graduates to participate as a student speaker or National Anthem singer. If you are interested in applying for either role, please review the requirements and criteria on the online application. The National Anthem application is open to all students, staff, faculty and alumni. The deadline to apply is Friday, November 13th at 11:59pm.

Regalia & Grad Fair

Graduates will be able to purchase regalia, announcements, class rings, diploma covers and other commencement gear online. Once these links are live, it will be added to the webpag and Graduates will recieve an email at the UC Merced email addresses. Please note, regalia is not required for the Virtual Commencement ceremony.

In-person Commencement Ceremony

Once a decision is made on when an in-person Commencement ceremony will take place, graduates will receive an email with details.

#UCM2020 Journey Project

UC Merced is committed to commemorating the tremendous and diverse accomplishments of our Graduates by creating the #UCM2020 Journey Project.  We invite our students, staff and faculty to submit photos, videos and messages for our graduates, and we will share some of these moments throughout the month of May as we reflect on our achievements and successes as a Bobcat community.
